Planning Stage
The planning stage consisted of the assembly of specifications (criteria for products), designs of products, and a logical action plan. My action plan consisted of two sections, the first was the continuation of research and investigation as the extensity of the topic goes beyond the time frame allowed for the investigation phase and second the action put forward with my training, creation of products, and workshop. The first section was directed by the extensive research skills, locating the necessary information online, using critical thinking skills to evaluate my work, refer to process journal entry # to further recognize the usage of my organization skills such as sort, classify and sequence information from multiple sources independently, write complete citations for all sources (providing internal citations), using graphic organizers (tables), and organizing information logically so that main points are evident.
The specifications (criteria) for my final products have sparked the brainstorming the different purposes and criteria’s that are relevant in the creation of the product. In order to complete this task there was a continuation in developing my research skills as I went back to my investigation stage and mentally did an overall evaluation and list (organization skills) of the specific areas that would impact the quality of my product paying close attention to the necessary details of regarding my target audience which is of all ages.
In order to achieve my goal the product that I create must meet a number of specifications to determine its overall success, the specifications are:
1. The videos must be filmed using HD quality tools and contain appropriate content for the target audience (video)
2. The video should be appealing to the target audience (IICS community all ages) (video)
3. The video should be well structured (video)
4. Upon the usage of my website positive action should be taken (Website)
5. The lesson plans for students for teaching first aid include content and interactions in order to engage the audience. (Workshop)
In order to receive a more detailed evaluation of these specifications to enhance your understanding of each specification refer to process journal entry #3.
Designing the product is the next section in the process throughout this area I learned how to design story boards for videos and create my own template for my websites, as well as design a lesson plan for the workshops. I was able to first go through what I did not know and research how to make lesson plans, and how to design an effective website in order to create a product that not only met the specifications listed but was going to make a useful product to fulfill my long term goal. The design of the products can be found in process journal #4 with detailed evaluation against the design specifications.
Action planning is the process, which helps me focus on the main ideas and to decide the required steps that I will take in order to achieve my main goal this can be clearly seen on a concrete timetable with clearly defined steps when referring to process journal entry #5. When preparing my action plan my main step was to identify my objectives (organization skills), then evaluating whether these objectives are achievable and measurable, then prioritizing my tasks effectively which then leads to the steps that are required to achieve my goal. Time management has been an area that I time to time struggle with which is why I was able to research and create ways in which I could improve this area which lead to using time management skills being able to complete work to a deadline, having a contingency plan and reviewing my progress a long the way when appropriate.
