Planning
Process Journal:
January 20th 2015
Beginning to create my plan, I first researched what it meant to have a successful action plan. I then followed these steps to create my own.
1. Have a clear objective. (‘‘Where do I want to be?’’). To be motivating a goal needs to be challenging enough to stimulate us, but not too difficult enough to be demoralizing. It should be just outside your comfort zone: stretching but not highly stressful. Be precise about what you want to achieve, (adapted from Action Planning, Kent)
2. Define clearly the steps you will take. ("How do I get there?’’) Think of all the possible things you could do to take you closer to achieving your goal, no matter how small. Break down any large steps into smaller components, so it doesn’t seem so difficult to achieve. What is the biggest obstacle? What could go wrong? (adapted from Action Planning, Kent)
3. Identify what you will be doing next (adapted from Action Planning, Kent)
4. Arrange the steps in a logical, chronological order and put a date by which you will start each step. (adapted from Action Planning, Kent)
5. Think about the type of problems you might encounter at each step. What are the barriers in the way of achieving your goal? What you would do to overcome these problems? Concentrate 10% on the problem and 90% on the solution. Try to turn every problem into a challenge and every challenge into an opportunity. (adapted from Action Planning, Kent)
6. Review your progress. Keep track of what you have been completing with accurate dates and record any mishaps that may arise throughout the time span of achieving your goal. (adapted from Action Planning, Kent)

Action Plan:
My start date for creating the solution/product is:
Thursday February 29th 2015
The end date for creating the solution/product is:
Website+Video: March 17th 2015 –Workshop April 2nd 2015
During the planning I need to consider the following: [list here anything that might affect your work and when it might happen] –dates listed that are for certain are not included in the planning as I know I will not be in Istanbul to work through those days.
· February Break interfering (holiday dates: 23rd of Feb. through 1st of March)
· Since it is winter snow days may be an issue (in this case reschedule meetings with nurse bilge or any other meeting, if during this stage I will be on the creation of website and videos then it will not effect since I will have my laptop to work with)
· It is winter and there is a flu going around If I end up catching it this may mean that I may have to reschedule some of my workings
· Extended Homeroom periods given on Thursday’s may be taken up due to my continuing collaboration with teaching the primary students science and conducting experiments with them
· Extended Homeroom periods on Fridays may be taken up with meetings discussing personal project or exploratory meetings for the committee which may mean I will need to catch up during the weekend (at home)
· Gone to Amsterdam for MUN dates (24th of March through 30th of March)
· Class Trips Tuesday April 7th through 10.

Evaluation of the Plan
Think about how you worked to your plan:
What changes did you need to make (examples might include, lost time, or something took longer than expected?
The changes that I had to make have been recorded in the "Changes to Plan" section on the detailed plan. However, if I were to generalize the changes that I made was for events that I had not been waiting for, this includes snow days. I did not fall out of track because in my plan I left my weekends without putting anything this was specifically done because as written in the considered list of events some fridays there are meetings which meant that I could not fulfill the duty that was set to be done in that certain period of time. Luckily I had left spare days in order to finish and end up not rushing my work and receiving an evaluation of my product in the end as well. The structure of my plan was done on a weekly basis as there was not a plan written for each and everyday but at least 2 or more days in the same week.
Explain why you had to make these changes?
Before creating my plan I had created a very detailed list as to what I would be anticipating as far as any events, sick days or snow days were concerned. Thus, I had a very organized and easy to follow plan which allowed me to sway out of the trouble of having to reschedule as I had already left out specific days which I had anticipated were going to be cut off due to an event. With having done extra planning before hand I was able to follow my plan and not have to stop or re plan as the extensive research of days and educated calculations paid off!
How did you change (adapt) your plan to ensure that kept on track?
As mentioned above my plan had been carefully and precisely schedules so that I did not have to change my plan so much but make a few adjustments a long the way, this meant that my plan was easy to adapt to any situation as I left many days as catch up days and allowed my self time and spaced out each task so that even if there was a school assignment that I had to complete on the same day I could initially leave the work that I had planned to do for the next because that is how I organized my plan to be.
If you made a plan again in the future, what might you do differently?
I was really happy with my overall final plan because I had precisely speculated the events that would arise even if they were unforeseen by allowing myself to have spaced out time to work on what it was that I had planned to work on. I thought that my plan was organized and left room to reschedule if needed as it was not cramped up with a lot of work in one certain period of time. If I were to make a plan in the future I would follow the research steps that I followed in learning how to make an effective action plan and follow the steps in creating a new action plan. This was what I did differently to write up this plan as I found it very effective it is what I would use in the future.
